What is Visible Thinking?
In Troy we strive to create a Culture of Thinking where students uncover their understanding through opportunities to discuss their thinking about numerous different topics. When creating a culture of thinking we consider 8 cultural forces in our classrooms.
As a staff we study and practice these cultural forces in our own Culture of Thinking. One of the forces that we work on regularly is the routines. You have probably heard your students mention these routines. These are the avenues we use to get out student thinking and to give them the opportunity to hear the thoughts of others. We also work on creating a language of thinking in order to value all thoughts in our classrooms. Below is more information to look in to and please feel free to ask any teacher at Hamilton for more information. It is a passion in our building and we would love to talk to you about it.
