Meet the Teachers
Mrs. Buxton
My husband, Rick, and I live in Birmingham. We have two children Kevin (28-Grad student at University of Miami) and Suzanne (23-Supply chain forecaster in Chicago). I received my undergraduate degree in nursing from Saginaw Valley State University. After spending many years as a registered nurse, pharmaceutical representative, and then full time mother, I earned a masters of arts degree in teaching from William Paterson University in New Jersey. I recently completed my certification in teaching of ESL students. I have been teaching for 14 years. Prior to teaching here at Hamilton, I taught fourth grade for L’Anse Creuse Public Schools and in Wyckoff, New Jersey. In my spare time, I love to read, ride my cute bike, attend Barre classes, and attend MSU football games. Go State!
Mission: My mission this year is to do everything I can to provide your child with the tools to become a confident, independent learner. We’ll be working on skills that will enable your child to become a problem-solver, both academically and socially. I recognize your child as a unique individual, with strengths and needs that are different from his/her classmates. Children develop at different rates socially and academically, and I will do all I can to understand and support your child’s needs while helping to develop his/her strengths.

Hi!
Here is a little information about me. I, myself, am a product of the Troy School District! After grade school, I attended Central Michigan University for my bachelor's and received my Master of Arts in Education from Oakland University. This is my 13th year teaching and I'm excited for another great year. I taught in Phoenix AZ, Hamtramck, and Walled Lake, before I landed back on my home turf! This is my sixth-year teaching fourth grade at Hamilton and I absolutely love it here. Teaching is my passion and I'm so grateful to be able to do what I love every day.
I have a wonderful husband, an energetic, fun loving almost two-year-old (20 months!) and two adorable cats. I love to work out, go on long walks, and spend time with my friends and family.
